KOTA KINABALU: Six houses in Papar were destroyed in a blaze said to have been caused when a boy dropped some lit candles he was playing with. It is learnt that the 12-year-old was playing with lit candles that fell and landed on some clothes. Papar Fire and Rescue Operations Officer Aloysius Steven Amit said six rescue teams with 32 members were rushed to the Kinarut placement scheme after they received a distress call at 6.39pm on Thursday. He said the fire was brought under control less than an hour later. No one was injured in the blaze.
