Boy loses finger due to firecrackers in Nueva Ecija — DOHBy The Manila TimesA firework-related injury was reported on Saturday involving a teenage boy in Nueva Ecija injured by an illegal firecracker known as “five-star.”The Department of Health (DoH), posted the incident last Friday through its online injury surveillance system at about 5:59 a.m. The victim sustained injuries, which resulted in the amputation of one of the fingers on his left hand. He was also given wound debridement and disarticulation, as well as tetanus toxoid and anti-tetanus serum. He was discharged from the Dr. Paulino J. Garcia Memorial Research and Medical Center after treatment of his wounds. The DoH has encouraged the public to not use firecrackers and leaving them to professionals.
