According to North West police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Sabata Mokgwabone, the boy was killed in Taung on Monday night. “We can confirm that a teenage boy was killed yesterday (Monday) and that a case of murder has been opened with the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid)," Mokgwabone said.
