Boy hurt in petrol explosion in PoriruaFAIRFAX NZ Wellington Free Ambulance paramedics attended to the boy before he was taken to hospital. An 11 year-old boy has been taken to hospital with serious burns after a gas explosion in Porirua, near Wellington. A Wellington Free Ambulance spokeswoman said the boy received serious burns in the explosion and was taken by ambulance to Hutt Hospital. The Fire Service was alerted to the explosion at 1.30pm and sent two fire appliances from Porirua station. It was understood the boy had facial burns after a petrol container exploded.
