Grime collective Boy Better Know and Garbage frontwoman Shirley Manson will be recognised for their contributions to music at the NME Awards on Wednesday night. Boy Better Know – founded by brothers JME and Skepta – have pioneered grime which continues to enjoy a mainstream resurgence following its initial emergence in the early 2000s. New Rules singer Dua Lipa joins Lorde and Charli XCX in the best song category and is also included on the best British solo artist shortlist alongside Liam Gallagher, Stormzy, Ed Sheeran, Loyle Carner and Charli XCX. J Hus also finds himself on the best new artist shortlist where he is joined by Stefflon Don, The Magic Gang, Sigrid, SZA and Shame. Liam Gallagher, Alt-J Stefflon Don and Pale Waves are also set to perform at the event which takes place at the O2 Academy in Brixton.
