A six-year-old boy has died after being found in a stream close to his home in Co Mayo on Sunday afternoon. Gardai were called to the area in Rehins Fort, Ballina shortly after 1pm after receiving reports that the young boy was missing from his home. Following a search, the boy was rescued from a nearby stream close to the River Moy. The young boy was treated at the scene by Gardaí and emergency services and was removed by ambulance to Mayo University Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. “It’s absolutely tragic,” Mr Duffy said.
