Today is May 4th, which technically makes it Star Wars Day. Yes, you can argue that every day is now some variation on Star Wars Day, but I digress. And the pre-release tracking dropped yesterday, revealing that the film is projected to snag a $160-$170 million Fri-Mon debut. Pre-release tracking isn’t meant to be an ironclad opening weekend projection, nor is it meant to be a bar for success. The last live-action Star Wars movie to get mixed-negative reviews was The Phantom Menace, which earned $431m domestic and $924m worldwide in the summer of 1999.
