But heading into the weekend, it had $140m worldwide, which means that this insane China debut puts the film's global cume at $238m worldwide. It also puts it within striking distance (not adjusted for inflation) of the $240m worldwide cume of Resident Evil: Retribution (chapter five from 2012). Oh, and 20th Century Fox and Regency's Assassin's Creed also opened this weekend in China with$17.3 million. That brings its worldwide total to around $230m.
