Sony distributed A Dog’s Way Home this weekend and earned a meh $11.3 million for their troubles. The Sony/Bona film release is based on W. Bruce Cameron’s novel, but it is not a sequel to Cameron’s A Dog’s Purpose. That Universal/Comcast and Amblin release earned a whopping $64m domestic and $205m worldwide (including $88m in China). The Bryce Dallas Howard/Alexandra Shipp/Ashley Judd/Edward James Olmos/Wes Studi drama cost $18 million compared to the $22m A Dog’s Purpose.
