Fifty Shades Darker was the top movie on Friday, even though it will probably lose the weekend crown to The LEGO Batman Movie by tomorrow. Nonetheless, the $55 million sequel earned a solid $21.5m on its first day, including $5.72m in Thursday previews. And if it makes its Tuesday count as a proverbial holiday Monday, that will give Fifty Shades Darker around $60m by the end of Valentine’s Day. Oh, and it opened on Valentine’s Day weekend to boot. Besides, even if the franchise is trending down, there is only one more installment, due next Valentine’s Day.
