Box Office: Disney And Will Smith's 'Aladdin' Tracking As High As $90 Million Over Memorial Day

DisneyThe tracking is out for Memorial Day weekend, and the news is cautiously optimistic for one of summer’s bigger question marks. Yes, the failure of Dumbo (currently at $329 million worldwide on a $170 million budget) puts added pressure on Disney to prove that they can do more than power superhero movies and animated flicks to box office glory. That said, if the tracking is accurate, the film will be looking at an opening between $70 million and $90 million Fri-Mon Memorial Day weekend debut. The James Gunn-produced horror flick, which is essentially “What if Superboy were evil?” is currently tracking for a frankly soft $10-$12 million launch. And no, I’m not expecting James Grey’s Ad Astra to open on Memorial Day weekend since we haven’t seen a lick of advertising for it.
