In new release news that isn’t Deadpool 2, Paramount/Viacom Inc.’s Book Club pulled an okay $12.5 million in its debut weekend. It’s the kind of movie that plays to demographics that don’t necessarily race out to the theaters on opening weekend. The Focus Features release opened in 346 theaters yesterday, which is a lot for a documentary, and it earned just $346,000 for the trouble. The flick earned a mighty $200,000 over the weekend (couldn't have bumped that up to $201k?) Despite decent reviews, the flick earned just $36.5k over the weekend for a $9.14k per-location-average.
