A row is brewing among residents of Chuka Igambang’ombe over its change of name and boundaries after the proposed split of the constituency into Chuka and Igambang’ombe. A section of elders from the Chuka community has threatened to move to court to challenge the boundary between Chuka and the newly created Igambangombe sub counties. Mugo said they will not allow the creation of Igambang'ombe sub county, which is currently in the gazettement stage before their concerns are addressed. The elders said the issue could create animosity between the Tharaka and Chuka sub tribes if not handled carefully. Tharaka Nithi county has three sub tribes; Chuka, Tharaka and Mwimbi across the three constituencies of Maara, Tharaka and Chuka Igambang’ombe.
