The Kiwis’ last Boxing Day test, in 1987, resulted in a famous draw. ‘‘There’s a sense of romance about being involved in the Boxing Day test,’’ Williamson told reporters yesterday. ‘‘I know we always play cricket on Boxing Day, but I think there’s only one Boxing Day test and it’s the one over here. ‘‘Looking at the wicket in the last two or three Boxing Day test matches, it’s been very hard to take 20 wickets,’’ Australia captain Tim Paine told reporters yesterday.
