Boris Johnson gets first AstraZeneca vaccine at hospital where he was in intensive care

The Prime Minister, 56, received the jab at St Thomas' Hospital in London - where he was given oxygen through a tube in intensive care last April after contracting Covid-19. This evening he urged everyone to take the vaccine when it is offered to them. During yesterday's Downing Street briefing, the PM said he would be getting jabbed today, saying: "The Oxford vaccine is safe, the Pfizer vaccine is safe, the thing that isn't safe is catching Covid." “When infection levels go up in France, 30,000 cases a day, that implies there’s at least 1,500-2,000 cases a day of the South African variant. Researchers said the South African variant should be the focus of any efforts to create new vaccines that may be needed next winter.
