The Labour leader has reportedly named the controversial former MP as part of his nominations to the upper house. But the move has infuriated Brexiteers who accuse Mr Bercow of abusing his position with bids to stop Britain's exit from the EU while he was Speaker. Boris Johnson reportedly refused to elevate Mr Bercow to the Lords - which is customary for former Speakers. Mr Bercow was not a Labour MP before he became Speaker - being elected the Tory MP for Buckingham in 1997. Labour deputy leadership contender Rosena Allin-Khan an independent inquiry into anti-Semitism in the Labour party must be concluded first.
