British holidaymakers stuck in traffic jams leading to Dover are not being punished by the French because of Brexit, a senior Tory insisted yesterday. Patrick McLoughlin, the Conservative party chairman, said it was unacceptable that tourists had been “left in the lurch” by the lack of French border control staff.
