There are around 1,400 hospitals in France, but none are better than the University Hospital of Bordeaux. The Bordeaux hospital has been given top spot twice in the past, most recently in 2005. Fourth went to Strasbourg University Hospitals and fifth to the Pitié-Salpêtrière in Paris.
