Boost for agriculture as Kenya gets Sh10b credit from India


By JAMES NGUNJIRIIndia has extended a Sh10 billion ($100 million) loan to Kenya for agricultural mechanisation. Kenya’s trade with India is tilted in favour of the emerging Asian giant. In 2015 Kenya imported goods worth Sh205 billion from India, while exports to the country stood at less than Sh10 billion. Mr Modi said his country is committed to the donation of essential anti-retroviral (ARV) medicines, medical equipment and capacity building programmes in the health sector. Equally, training has been given to Kenyan oncologists under the India Africa Forum Summit Framework.
