The Chester Beatty Library holds a unique collection of manuscripts, miniature paintings, prints and rare booksRevenues at the Chester Beatty Library in Dublin fell last year despite a significant increase in visitors to its unique collection of historical manuscripts and rare artefacts. More than 370,000 people visited the library at Dublin Castle last year, up from 344,000 the previous year. Accounts published by the Chester Beatty Library Trust show that the attraction recorded a net surplus of €97,806 last year, down 6 per cent on the previous year. Entrance to the library is free and the trust is highly dependent on an annual grant provided by the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, which was worth almost €2.23 million last year.
