The chances of a Fine Gael and Sinn Fein government after the next election have been slashed by bookmakers in the wake of the resounding ‘Yes’ vote in the Eighth Amendment Referendum. Both parties campaigned for a ‘Yes’ vote while most of the Fianna Fáil parliamentary party were backing ‘No’. Lawrence Lyons, Spokesperson for BoyleSports said the politics markets were taking quite a pounding as the results came in. “The stock of both Leo Varadkar and Mary Lou McDonald is also at its highest now with both seeing money to be leading the country after the next General Election. But punters have now made 2019 the most likely year for that particular poll at 13/10, while the money for a 2018 General Election has all but evaporated.”- Digital Desk
