An inaugural festival celebrating literature, arts, the landscape and community will be held in the Mackenzie later this year. The Mackenzie Book and Art Festival, create. The art programme includes artist workshops, music and exhibitions as well as static art displays featuring a sculpture walk on the Tekapo Domain and a photo competition with outside display boards in the Twizel Marketplace. A schools programme will also include a cover art competition, short story competition, visiting author workshops and discussions at schools and Gateway opportunities for students. “I congratulate the initiative from the Mackenzie Book and Art Society in hosting festivals and enriching culture such as art and literature in our district,’’ Mackenzie District mayor Graham Smith says.
