Facing staff concerns, the auditor’s office initially granted a number of medical and family exemptions and accommodations. Medical exemptions were authorized on a case-by-case basis, they say, with those citing immunocompromised family members required to produce extensive documentation. But many of those medical exemptions were rescinded by August, with family exemptions largely rolled back in September, the sources say.
