A new franchise and a potential big event on the way could be just what the Winnipeg Football Club needs after announcing a 2018 operating profit that is significantly lower than the one posted in 2017. The parent company of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers revealed a profit of $2.6 million on Tuesday, down from $5.1 million in 2017. The Bombers posted a $2.8 million profit in 2016, another year when there were very few big events, outside of Canadian Football League games, at the stadium. “Over time, there’s great opportunity for that (to increase our profit),” Bombers president and CEO Wade Miller said in an interview. “There will be changes for this year because it’s not sustainable for the Winnipeg Football Club,” president and CEO Wade Miller said Tuesday.
