Bombardier unveils new plane to accommodate overweight passengersGetty Images Aircraft manufacturers have struggled to deal with the issue of overweight passengers. This year Airbus filed a patent application for a "re-configurable passenger bench seat", which it said could easily accommodate "overweight" passengers. A new aircraft designed with extra-wide seats will be able to better accommodate overweight passengers. Canadian manufacturer Bombardier will unveil its CS100 passenger plane at this week's Farnborough International Airshow in England. Airlines had requested a plane with wider seats to provide more comfort for "today's flyers", according to Ross Mitchell, Bombardier's vice president of commercial operations.
