Bolts finally end slump, stay alive

MANILA, Philippines — The struggling Meralco Bolts ended a long losing spell and they had to struggle for it. Baser Amer scored 17 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter while Allen Durham tossed in 16 in the same period, fuelling the Bolts’ wondrous fightback that snapped their six-game losing skein. “We struggled throughout the game and we struggled a lot since our comeback from Thailand (FIBA Asia Champions Cup). But our players fought to the very end in this game,” said Meralco coach Norman Black. NOTES: Rain or Shine center Raymond Almazan has resurfaced after an 11-day sabbatical, according to his agent Danny Espiritu.
