Bad news came for the Oregon Ducks last week, who learned that star center and projected lottery pick Bol Bol will be out the remainder of the year with a navicular fracture in his left foot. After suffering the sudden injury, teams aren’t expected to shy away from drafting Bol in the top 10. That group – Yao Ming, Brendan Haywood and Quincy Pondexter (still playing) – played a combined 80 of 522 possible regular season games after returning – a little more than 15%. So what conclusion should teams make of Bol’s case when the small sample size of historical precedent is hardly definitive? Bol Bol has a combination of skill and physical stature that will lure an organization to pull the trigger early on June 20th.
