Bogus votes: Case against three CPI(M) activists

The police on Thursday registered a case against three CPI(M) activists who were found to have cast bogus votes in a booth at Pilathara here under the Kasaragod Lok Sabha constituency. The case was registered by the Pariyaram police against Cheruthazham panchayat member N.P. The case followed Chief Electoral Officer Teeka Ram Meena's finding that bogus votes were polled by three women in polling booth number 19 at Pilathara on April 23. The CEO's finding confirmed the webcasting footage of bogus voting in the booth by a TV channel. The CEO's finding and the subsequent police case reject the CPI(M)'s claim that there was no bogus voting in the booth and that the three voters were casting companion vote.
