Residents of Kisumu were left shocked on Monday after they found the body of a dead baby dumped along the Kisumu-Nairobi road. Eyewitnesses said the body has been lying on the road, less than 200 metres from the police line since early morning. The baby's umbilical cord seemed to have healed, an indication that the baby could have been two weeks old. Fred Akunja, a witness said the body of the baby boy is suspected to have been dumped at night. "Even if life has become unbearable the mother could have taken the baby to a church or children's home.
