The body of a dead man was found in the port of Los Angeles on Monday afternoon, authorities said. A U.S. Coast Guard vessel “observed the person drifting near the entrance to Angels Gate — that’s the breakwater that entered the Port of LA,” port spokesman Phillip Sanfield said. The Los Angeles Port Police Department was alerted just after 4:30 p.m., Sanfield said. According to Brian Humphrey, spokesman for Sanfield and LAFD, boats from the Los Angeles Fire Department and the Port Police Department responded to the scene. After the call, a Port Police boat took the body to an LAFD station on the water, Sanfield said.
