Robert Moorfield died on August 11 at the age of 107. Pukemiro beckoned before they settled on what is now Moorfield Road in Te Kauwhata. Bob Moorfield was carried by Te Kauwhata’s first ambulance, a Dodge, that he’d helped fundraise for. Local firefighters and St John staff performed a guard of honour on Moorfield Road as the ambulance passed to Rangiriri cemetery and the final chapter in an extraordinary life.
