SCOTT HAMMOND/STUFF Boats in Picton are being inspected for Mediterranean fanworm as the pest poses a threat to marine life. Marine Biosecurity co-ordinator Peter Lawless said the Mediterranean fanworm was a threat to mussel farms in the region. Inspections would take about four to five minutes to complete and if Mediterranean fanworm was found, authorities would advise skippers to get their boats cleaned immediately.
