more-inCruise rides of the District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) resumed on the Akkulam-Veli stretch after a gap of five years on Friday with Kerala Tourism succeeding in removing waterweed in the Akkulam lake. The tourist village has also been made a venue for the Onam celebrations of Kerala Tourism after several years. Launching the safari and speedboat rides again, Minister for Tourism and Cooperation Kadakampally Surendran said that the tourist village would be made a major destination within six months. The second-phase works in the village to attract tourists in a big way and to offer entertainment will begin soon, the Minister added. Health standing committee chairperson K.
