NewsSix students died when a boat capsized in mid-sea off to Mandaitheevu island in Jaffna yesterday. On Monday, seven students went to sea to celebrate a birthday of one of their friends after completing their Advanced Level (A/L) exams last week. Navy launched a search operation immediately and found bodies of the victims. Jaffna police said that they have launched a probe into this incident to determine the cause for the accident. Preliminary investigations by police revealed that the boat was not in good condition when students took it for a ride and most of them were intoxicated when the accident occured.
