Rieko Ioane of the Blues scores a try against the Waratahs. Photo: GettyTwo weeks into the TransTasman competition and on the face of successive commanding victories the Blues could be considered genuine title contenders. In many ways, the comfortable 48-21 victory over the Waratahs at Eden Park on Saturday was a step back for the Blues. Blues hooker Kurt Eklund's try from a driving maul edged the Blues clear at the break but it was far from convincing. Blues 48 (Bryce Heem 3, Tom Robinson, Kurt Eklund, penalty try, Rieko Ioane tries; Otere Black 4 cons, pen), Waratahs 21 (Angus Bell, Jake Gordon, David Porecki tries; Will Harrison 3 cons).
