Blue chips waver early Friday, US light crude oil above US$50 - Business News


KUALA LUMPUR: Blue chips wavered in early Friday trade as investors sought to find a firm footing after the overnight dip on Wall Street but the firm crude oil prices, with US crude above US$50 per barrel could shore up oil and gas stocks.At 9.39am, the KLCI was down 0.15 point or 0.01% to 1,666.58. Turnover was 225.09 million shares valued at RM97.48mil. Overhead levels are seen at 1,670 (R1)/1,680 (R2), while support are capped at 1,650 (Support 1) and 1,643 (S2).Top Glove was down nine sen to RM4.86, PPB Group lost eight sen to RM16.02 and Hap Seng was down four sen to RM7.64. YTL REITS and KPS lost four sen each each to RM1.20 and RM1.28.Genting Malaysia, which hit a record high on Thursday, slipped four sen to RM4.71 in thin trade.Perak Transit, which made its debut on Thursday, slipped one sen to 20 sen with 34.59 million shares done. Its offer price was 15 sen.Perisai Petroleum edged up one sen to 8.5 sen after recent historic lows while Smatec and KNM advanced 0.5 sen each to 8.5 sen and 42 sen. Also up one sen was Bumi Armada to 70.5 sen.LPI rose 16 sen to RM16.66 with 600 shares done after kicking off the third quarter earnings season on Thursday.Consumer stocks Dutch Lady added 46 sen to RM60.44 and Nestle 12 sen higher at RM78.64 in thin trade.Hong Leong Bank gained eight sen to RM13.18.
