Things are looking up for Marcus Stroman and the Blue Jays, thanks in part to a boost from the starting rotation. Happ threw six scoreless innings in a 4-0 victory in Seattle on Sunday, Blue Jays manager John Gibbons was pointing out the importance of getting quality starts from the rotation. Those types of outings are also what the Blue Jays became accustomed to last season, their starters racking up an MLB-best 995 1/3 innings. Entering Monday, the Blue Jays sat 19th in that category, with 343. Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson said the tempo of the game defensively is smoother when the man who starts on the mound remains in place for the bulk of the game.
