After a so-so spring, Mat Latos stuck around in the minors hoping for another shot with the Jays as a starter. That team needed 12 starting pitchers and won 74 games. Also, the Jays had enough young starting pitching to cobble together a significant package to obtain free-agent-to-be David Price from Detroit for the final two months. His 71 MLB wins rank second to Happ on the current Jays’ staff, but success has been a while. In 2013, the Jays’ starters included R.A. Dickey, Mark Buehrle, Esmil Rogers, Happ, Josh Johnson, Todd Redmond, Brandon Morrow, Chien-Ming Wang, Ramon Ortiz, Chad Jenkins, Ricky Romero and Aaron Laffey.
