Blue Jays add infield depth by signing Freddy Galvis

The Toronto Blue Jays have signed infield free agent Freddy Galvis to a one-year contract reportedly worth US $4,000,000 with a club option for the 2020 season. Galvis, 29, batted .248 with 31 doubles, five triples, and 13 home runs while playing in all 162 games for the San Diego Padres last season. The Jays keep adding depth to their infield. Galvis may turn out to be a quality defensive replacement in the infield for the rebuilding Jays, though Drury will probably play third until baseball’s No. 1 prospect Vladimir Guerrero Jr. arrives with the Jays a few weeks into the season.
