The Philippine Blu Girls snapped out of a four-game skid, repelling world No. 10 Mexico, 4-2, in the World Cup of Softball XII at the ASA Hall of Fame Complex in Oklahoma on Saturday (Sunday in Manila). The Pinays and the Mexicans face off again in the ranking match Sunday noon (Monday in Manila). But Mexico quickly drew level in bottom second, courtesy of Sierra Rodriguez’ run-scoring ground ball single and Stefania Aradilla’s sacrifice fly. Celestine Palma, Lorna Adorable, Shaira Damasing, Mia Macapagal, Reese Guevarra, Riezel Calumbres, Lovely Arago, and Lyca Basa.
