But because they live here on long term visas rather than holding a New Zealand passport, they are refused entry. This uncertainty has definitely been felt by the migrants who have been working in New Zealand on temporary visas. This means that it may be unlikely for many migrants to find work in New Zealand in the future. As our economy recovers, businesses will again start to rely on migrants to fill jobs where Kiwis are unavailable to. Sadly, many temporary migrants who ordinarily live in New Zealand are still stranded overseas, and a large number have shared their stories with me.
