Despite the odds: Yuen training hard for the triathlon on April 12. — LIM BENG TATT/The StarGEORGE TOWN: Having conquered mountains in Nepal and completed a full marathon, visually-impaired Darren Yuen now aims to complete a triathlon. “I hope this will inspire others in the disabled community to step out of their comfort zones,” he said when interviewed by The Star. Despite the challenges of navigating a triathlon as a blind athlete, Yuen sees it as a technical task that can be overcome with preparation and trust. As he prepares for Sunday’s race, Yuen said he hopes to inspire others and highlight what is possible through determination.
