President Uhuru Kenyatta conferred police officer Julius Karanja Irungu with the silver star medal during the Jamhuri Day celebrations at Nyayo Stadium on Saturday, December 12. The officer and his colleagues were ambushed and hit by an improvised explosive devise while on patrol on December 27, 2019. The officer was able to repel the Al Shabaab militants and also called for reinforcement in good time, despite being injured.
