Blenheim fire the latest in a number of suspicious blazesJeffrey Kitt Residents have been forced to evacuate as fire crews struggle to put out a large blaze near BlenheimFire crews in Blenheim have brought a deliberately lit blaze under control and bulldozers will be brought in to uncover any hotspots. There have been four other suspicious blazes in the region in the last fortnight. The fire, west of Taylor Pass Rd, jumped a tree line and spread to a field behind Jenkins St, Witherlea. Fire crews from Blenheim rural and urban, Rarangi, Koromiko, Renwick and the Department of Conservation were called to the scene, along with six helicopters. Of Marlborough's four suspicious fires in the past two weeks three were fought in the Wither Hills area on New Year's Eve.
