Firefighters spent about five hours at the scene of a house fire in Barton Rd, near Matamata, overnight. Fire and Emergency NZ investigators are at the scene of a fire that destroyed a house in the eastern Waikato overnight. Emergency services were alerted to the blaze in Barton Rd, east of Matamata, about 10.30pm. Three engines and two tankers were deployed and it took firefighters about five hours to fully quell the blaze. No one was injured in the fire, but the house was destroyed.
