A resident of Sulitala village, Shaukat was reportedly a Trinamool Congress worker. However, Murshidabad SP P Sudhakar said: “While one person had died in the blast, there is no report that anyone has been injured.” The deceased has been identified as Shaukat Sheikh (32). Several injured persons were removed from the spot before police arrived, they claimed. ONE PERSON was killed and at least six others sustained injuries when a room, where crude bombs were allegedly being made, exploded at Jafrabad village in Murshidabad district’s Samsherganj area late Sunday.
