Scotland Yard has asked the police watchdog to investigate after the footage showed a police officer kneeling on the neck of the man. Sir Steve House, Deputy Commissioner, said: “The video footage that I have seen today and is circulating on social media is extremely disturbing. Mr Floyd was a black American man killed during an arrest in Minneapolis when a white police officer, Derek Chauvin, knelt on his neck for several minutes at a time.
