On Wednesday, the police chief in Hoover, Alabama, revealed new details provided by Carlethia “Carlee” Russell, a 25-year-old Black nursing student, during her interview with detectives after she disappeared for 48 hours. At 9:34 pm on July 13th, Russell called 911 to report a child wandering on the side of I-495. Russell’s phone was subsequently found on the ground near her vehicle, while her purse containing an Apple Watch was discovered inside the car. This fact confused Chief Derzis as there were no other reports of a child on the interstate during that time, despite numerous vehicles passing through the area. Derzis further revealed that Russell had conducted specific internet searches in the hours leading up to her disappearance.
