British water engineering company Biwater has won a $3.4m contract for the renovation of the Sidi Othmane slaughterhouse wastewater treatment plant in Casablanca, one of Africa’s largest abattoirs. Under the contract, Biwater will revamp the existing slaughterhouse wastewater treatment plant, providing cutting-edge technology to improve the quality of the effluent on site, ensuring the treatment meets stringent environmental regulations and emission standards. The British company will also carry out the supply and installation of all mechanical and electrical equipment throughout the project. The company has already been chosen for the design and construction of a solar sludge drying facility for a new wastewater treatment plant in Laâyoune, southern Morocco. The company has carried out 25,000 water and wastewater treatment projects in over 90 countries around the globe.
