As they lined up on the five-yard line with zeroes showing on the game clock, the University of Manitoba Bisons needed one last reception to extend their season. The fourth-ranked Bisons, led by Des Catellier at pivot, had pulled themselves to within a point at 47-46. The Bisons could have sent the game to overtime with a convert, but veteran head coach Brian Dobie chose to go for the kill shot. The Bisons would begin their comeback march in the fourth when Shae Weeks returned a punt 97 yards to the house. Catellier, who finished with 358 yards in the game, would find AK Gassama on the next drive for a 12-yard touchdown, tying the game at 40-40.
